From a recent interview, Michael Dlouhy passionately shares more network marketing nuggets and reiterates from chapter 4 of his book, "Success In 10 Steps" what he knows to be the Truth from his 30+ years as a full time professional network marketer. Network Marketing is NOT what they tell you. DIRECT Marketing is a numbers game, it's NOT network marketing. Network marketing (MLM) is a relationship business; a process, NOT a sales business.
Gettin' Down and Dirty In MLM
Direct marketers are Only interested in sales. They're only interested in getting you in their deal.If you are foolish and sign up for a joint venture, EXPECT TO BE SCREWED! It's just that simple.
Affiliate programs are Not network marketing. It's them trying to get you in 20 or 30 deals, and nobody makes any money in those deals. They are scammers who send out spam emails with the intent of building a huge list of names to sell.
When I learned it wasn't a sales business, I said "I can do this."
Sales techniques don't work in network marketing. It has nothing to do with selling, and everything to do with teaching, training, mentoring, and coaching.
Once you bond with those people, you will become friends. But if you don't listen to them, and know what's happening in their life, then how can you possibly become friends?

Michael says what changed his life is when he learned to identify and work differently with each of the four basic personality types.
Direct marketing people, just like plastic palm trees in hotels, wigs, or fake t-bone steaks are phony. No, I want a real relationship with real people, not some novelty relationship leaving me stranded.
Learn about people, study people. Build it right, build it once, and it will last forever. You must remember The Boyscouts Oath.
Your first commitment must be to your people. For Direct Marketers, their first commitment it to their personal profit. Michael is not saying that's wrong, he's just saying "That's NOT Network Marketing."
Most people think that greed is the emotion of network marketing. They don't have it from their head to their heart. People look at you through THEIR EYES. They are thinking that there has to be an agenda. It's the old adage, "there's nothing for nothing".
Fact is, that TRUST is the emotion of network marketing.
